How do I configure my Saddleback Windows connection settings?

DHCP for Windows 2000

To set your Windows 2000 computer to use DHCP, please follow the instructions outlined below.

  1. Close all applications
  2. Click the Start button in the lower left corner of your screen
  3. Select Settings and click Network And Dial-Up Connections
  4. Right-click Local Area Network
  5. Click Properties
  6. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties
  7. Select the option next to Obtain an IP address automatically
  8. Select the option next to Obtain DNS server address automatically
  9. Click OK
  10. Click OK again
  11. Close any remaining opened windows

After you have configured your computer for DHCP, please restart your computer.

DHCP for Windows XP

To set your Windows XP computer to use DHCP, please follow the instructions outlined below.

  1. Close all applications
  2. Click Start and select Control Panel

  3. Click Network and Internet Connections

  4. Click Network Connections

  5. Double-click the Local Area Connection Icon

  6. The Local Area Connection Status window will appear

  7. Click on Properties
  8. On the General Tab, double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) or highlight it and select Properties
  9. Select the General Tab of the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window

  10. Make sure the radio buttons for Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically are both selected and click OK

  11. Click OK to close the Local Area Connection Properties window
  12. Click Close to close the Local Area Connection Status window
  13. Your PC is now configured to use DHCP. Try opening your web browser to confirm that you're able to surf.
